Dramatical Murder

Hey guys~!  So I was thinking that I would start just blogging about whatever games I am currently playing.  I’m going to talk to Lazlo, and see if I can get him on board, as he usually plays more games then I do (that is actually saying a lot).  This isn’t necessarily saying these will be games that we are going to be reviewing, but if we get enough response to certain games, then I will definitely see what I can do to make it happen.

So, as I have mentioned a few times in the past, I quite enjoy playing Visual Novels (or VN for short).  For those who don’t know, as it isn’t that big of a market here in the US, a VN is basically like a Choose Your Own Adventure book.  The majority of the “game” is text, with backgrounds, character portraits, music and voice acting.  As the story progresses, the “player” gets to occasionally make choices that affect the outcome of the story, and multiple play throughs are usually required to get the entirety of the story.  And, yes, they often (especially the ones commercially released in America) contain scenes of a hentai nature.

Thanks to an amazing team over at Aarinfantasy, I have just started playing Dramatical Murder.  Though I am not very far, I have really been enjoying it.  I really like the character designs, and the voice acting is unexpectedly amazing.  Not to say that most VNs have terrible voice actors, but they just aren’t always great.  The seiyū of Dramatical Murder are quite experienced, having a lot of anime, game and dubbing work credentials to their names.

The music is amazing, as well.  Quite often, I find myself getting sick of hearing the same loops repeating infinitely.  I can’t seem to shake AI Catch, the song from the opening, out of my head.  A lot of the bgm has a retro 8 bit sound to it, which I really enjoy.

The outfits are quite well designed, a bit futuristic, but not so much that it feels completely foreign, which is often a problem I have with cyber punk and sci-fi in general.  I even have some plans to start knitting Noiz’s hat, based on the few times I have encountered him, so far.  Maybe I’ll even post a pattern, if it comes out looking good.

Since I’ve only just started and have only logged a few hours into it, I don’t really have too much more to say, at the moment, but I just wanted to try a new blog format.  I’m hoping that doing small little updates on what we are playing will help keep this site alive.
